With over 35 years of banquet experience, the MORITZBASTEI ranks among Leipzig’s largest cultural and culinary event organizers. Its history is unique: Built in the 16th century as part of Leipzig’s city fortifications, it is today the last surviving section of the historic city wall. After the war, it lay buried under rubble for decades - until Leipzig students, through eight years of their own initiative, uncovered it and brought it back to life in 1982. What began as a student club is still palpable today: The MORITZBASTEI thrives on culture, music, and genuine camaraderie - a landmark that isn’t just visited, but experienced.
