The coolest city in Saxony – according to Lonely Planet. One of the most liveable cities in Europe – according to an EU Commission ranking. When the international meetings, events and incentive travel industry gathers at IMEX in Frankfurt from 20 to 22 May, this cool and liveable city is not to be missed. Because Leipzig also stands out as a conference destination, and will be welcoming trade visitors to stand G160 with impressive views and tasty treats from the region. The team from the Leipzig Convention Bureau will be there, joined by representatives of the Leipzig Convention Network. Taking part are the Congress Center Leipzig and the KONGRESSHALLE am Zoo Leipzig, as well as Zoo Leipzig, the Porsche Experience Center Leipzig, The Westin Leipzig and the Leipzig Marriott Hotel. They will be joined by Tammi, the zoo’s mascot. Visitors are warmly invited not only to engage in one-on-one conversations about Leipzig’s strengths as a conference destination, but also to take souvenir photos with the friendly lion.
A reason to celebrate – and plenty of conference highlights
The KONGRESSHALLE am Zoo Leipzig has reason to celebrate: exactly ten years ago, it opened its doors as a modern conference centre. The impressive Gründerzeit building quickly became a sought-after venue for conferences and congresses – attracting organisers who had previously struggled to find suitable and large enough facilities in Leipzig. It is operated by the Congress Center Leipzig (CCL), the city’s largest conference centre – and its calendar is also brimming with events. By the time IMEX kicks off, the German Child and Youth Welfare Congress – Europe’s largest youth welfare summit – will just have concluded. Lining up next are the International Transport Forum, the German Medical Assembly and Amnesty International’s annual conference.
25 years of innovative species conservation and wildly good events
Zoo Leipzig is also celebrating this year. For 25 years, it has been one of Europe’s most innovative and exciting zoos, continuously refining its “zoo of the future” master plan. Zoo Leipzig has evolved into a 21st-century centre for nature and species conservation, with a strong focus on endangered species, state-of-the-art animal care and the protection of biodiversity. For event organisers, this setting offers unique conference spaces – and for supporting programmes, the zoo’s various themed worlds are just a stone’s throw away.
Memorable driving experiences for your event
Thrilling driving experiences, fascinating insights, and a venue that leaves nothing to be desired – the Porsche Experience Center Leipzig offers the perfect setting for unforgettable events. With over 5,000 m² of indoor space and more than 400 hectares outdoors, the venue provides a wide range of options for meetings, workshops, conferences or gala events. Thanks to state-of-the-art event technology, events can also be delivered in digital or hybrid formats. The undisputed highlight: the supporting programme centred around the Porsche brand – from factory tours offering insights into production to on-road or off-road driving experiences on the in-house tracks.
Popular conference hotels in prime locations
Leipzig recorded around 3.8 million overnight stays in 2024. In addition to cultural and city tourists, business travel linked to international trade fairs and congresses played a major role in this success. The Westin Leipzig and the Leipzig Marriott Hotel exemplify the high standard of Leipzig’s conference hotels. Alongside high-quality accommodation, they offer event organisers exclusive conference spaces right in the heart of the city. The Westin Leipzig features around 50 conference rooms across 4,000 m², along with all the benefits of certification as a Business Hotel, Conference Hotel and Green Hotel. At the Leipzig Marriott Hotel, organisers can flexibly combine ten rooms across more than 600 m². After a long day at a congress, both hotels invite guests to relax in their wellness areas.
UEFA EURO 2024 came – and the International German Gymnastics Festival 2025 is coming
As a host city, Leipzig embraced UEFA EURO 2024 in summer 2024, proving itself to be a charming and outward-looking host. In May 2025, guests from around the world will return for the next major sporting highlight. Leipzig will host the International German Gymnastics Festival and the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships. From 26 May to 1 June, around 80,000 athletes and 750,000 visitors are expected. And Leipzig will once again demonstrate just how well major events fit this city. Competitions and the specialist programme will take place at around 30 venues across Leipzig. The many hotels of all categories will provide the necessary accommodation. A diverse mix of culture, cuisine and entertainment offers the perfect balance to the sporting schedule. Once again, Leipzig will shine as a vibrant, liveable city with genuine hosting charm.
