The conference destination Leipzig stands out for its wide range of ideas to promote greater sustainability at events. Some of these will be showcased by the Leipzig Convention Bureau and partners from the Leipzig Convention Network at IMEX 2025 in Frankfurt. From 20 to 22 May, visitors to stand G160 can look forward to eco-friendly giveaways, top insights into Leipzig as a conference destination, and fun photo opportunities.

Impegia will be bringing the pleasure of coffee “made in Leipzig” to IMEX. The Leipzig-based start-up uses high-quality beans sourced from sustainable agriculture and fair trade, and is committed to climate-friendly roasting and reusable packaging to help conserve resources. At IMEX, these hot drinks will be served in reusable porcelain cups featuring the Leipzig logo – a premium giveaway for visitors. To accompany the coffee, there will be “kalter Hund”: this no-bake treat, made from biscuits and chocolate, will be prepared in Leipzig and transported to Frankfurt in large baking tins. This avoids unnecessary packaging waste – giving IMEX guests at the Leipzig stand a delicious demonstration of how sustainability and indulgence go hand in hand.

Resource-conscious and ready for IMEX – again!

The exhibition stand offers even more inspiration for using resources responsibly – starting with the reuse of the street-food container that has been drawing attention at IMEX since 2019. In addition to stand design and catering, close attention is also paid to energy use and mobility. Measures such as saving electricity, the team’s use of public transport to get to the event, and reducing printed brochures at the stand are just three examples of many sustainable practices in place. “We focus on what’s feasible and continually weigh up what makes sense,” explains Sara Rosenblatt. She and her agency, Aras Events, specialise in sustainable event planning and developed a sustainability strategy for Leipzig’s presence at IMEX. “There’s no such thing as 100 per cent sustainability, but we stay alert to where we can still improve. To do that, we compare our targets after IMEX with the actual outcomes.”

Leipzig still committed to the People & Planet Pledge

In many ways, the stand design reflects the “five Rs” that underpin IMEX’s commitment to greater sustainability: Reuse, Recycle, Rethink, Reduce and Repair. Leipzig is once again taking part in the People & Planet Pledge in 2025 – an initiative that places a positive impact on people and the planet at the heart of the IMEX mission.

An inspiring conference destination – with furry support

The key goal of Leipzig’s presence at the trade fair is to draw attention to the city as a conference destination – with a bit of furry support. Tammi, the mascot of Zoo Leipzig, will be roaming the aisles at IMEX. Visitors can have their photo taken with the friendly lion and receive a printed copy at the Leipzig stand – the perfect conversation starter for discovering all that Leipzig has to offer: outstanding venues and services for meetings and conferences, green event options, and much more. Representatives from the Congress Center Leipzig, Zoo Leipzig, the Porsche Experience Center Leipzig, The Westin Leipzig and Leipzig Marriott Hotel will be on hand to share what makes Leipzig the ideal location for your next event. Together with the Leipzig Convention Bureau, they look forward to meeting many event organisers in Frankfurt and sparking their enthusiasm for Leipzig.
